Has anyone actually been able to complete Watts of the Wild? I’ve tried three times across two different device, windows and iOS and the route has crashed mid ride just leaving me aimlessly riding. What a POS piece of software.
No problems on Friday (Win 10 PC).
I had no problems with it. If you would like advice I suggest either posting all the details about the equipment you are running Zwift on, and the type of activity you were doing, and if it was a free ride do you have some kind of steering device, or just contact support@zwift.com and ask them what happened
People love to blame the software but in 3 years of continual usage it has never crashed on me once using a Windows 10 PC and an old GPU. I suggest that your hardware you are trying to use it on is actually junk.
Not something I would say before knowing all the details. There are a lot of people happily riding on low end hardware with no problems. This may be solvable but we just don’t know without understanding what happened and the equipment in use.
Completed it this morning without an issue.
Sounds like either your internet is dropping out for some reason or your wifi is seeing some interference causing the disconnect.
Sorry, know it is frustrating
Well possibly, I know that the internet in what I thought were “Developed countries”
can still be pretty bad. Considering we are stuck in the middle of nowhere down in the pacific I seldom even see disconnects in Zwift. 100Mbps fibre is pretty much entry level here now and even my 5 year old modem is fine for the whole lot to be on 5.0Ghz Wi-Fi. I do see a lot of people trying to use underspec PC hardware, done it for years myself pulling stuff out of the dumpster but you can only upgraded it so far even if you know what you are doing.
Did the Watts of the Wild “Group” ride (cough, cough) today, no problems at all except holding myself back and not trying to race it. 40 starters and finished 13th. Result in ZwiftPower no problems during the ride at all. Using 10 year old PC hardware on Windows 10.
Not necessarily his hardware at all, unless of course you were referring to his steering device.
Looks like you may inadvertently have just steered off your route as opposed to have seen a full system failure. Turning off intersection controls may help as in this previous post.
I did it with no problems on a six year old iPad, 9th gen, mirrored to a tv in the garage. My old road bike on a Noza S smart trainer. Not the most Gucci of set ups but I’ve never had any gremlins of any sort affect the rides.
Looking at your activities it appears that you made a manual turn off the route each time.
As others have said, it would be useful to know what steering device you have, and you may want to disable steering from being able to make manual turns.
I’m right with you. I have a Zwift Ride, and the d pad on the left brake is glitching and causing erroneous turns. I’m confident it’s that becase if I hit “up” on the d pad and bring up the menu, it does random left or right switching between the things in the menu. I had this issue early on with the Ride, but it went away by working the button in with some forceful pressing - I thought it was maybe just sticking because it was new. But I’m going to need to get that left lever replaced.
This I think is correct. My zwift ride left brake/controller is glitching and causing the turns. I think the d-pad buttons are malfunctioning.
If they agree on replacement, they will send you the entire handlebar assembly with both levers. You’re not expected to replace a lever when it’s under warranty.
Until it’s resolved, you can probably ride events where navigation is disabled (group rides, group workouts, races, meetups)
Yeah that’s my plan. You really don’t have to have the handlebar controls turned on for it to work. Going to try that later today.
Not pairing the controls will defeat virtual shifting, unless you have a Click to use instead, but ERG mode should still be OK for solo workouts
Oh shoot you’re right. That slipped my mind. I have an old set of Play shifters I can see if I can rig up.
If that proves difficult I think your best option for a free ride type of experience is to create a meetup where you can see everyone in the world. You have to invite someone to it but they don’t have to join.
