Since a while I have some weird issues. When riding, every now and then (every minute or so), the POV is swinging wildly (mostly when I overtake/am overtaken) and directly after the resistance drops for a couple of seconds. I just ran the last update, but the problem persists. I use the ZWIFT Cog/click thingie. Anyone experiencing the same and has some ideas on how to fix this? I am a newbie, no idea where to start…
The first two things I would do are check for firmware updates to the Click (in the Equipment menu in Companion) and check for firmware updates for the trainer (depends on which trainer you have but usually done in the trainer manufacturer’s app). Weird camera effects can be caused by device pairing problems. I don’t know why that happens but it has been reported before. So if it continues even if all firmware is current, I would want to understand whether you have a stable Bluetooth connection. If you run the game on anything other than Apple TV you can upload a game log file to trainerdx.com to see any Bluetooth problems. On Apple TV you are helpless and have to contact support or experiment with different pairing methods (ie, pair via the Companion app or stop pairing via the Companion app).
Which trainer are you using and what kind of device are you running the game on?
I’m having the same issue since last Saturday 4/18. I tried Paul’s suggestion on updating trainer and click firmware this morning, but I’m still getting the issue.
I’ll try looking at the logs after my ride if I can remember.
What are you running the game on, and how are you pairing your equipment (WiFi, Bluetooth, or via Companion)
MacBook Air M2. Zwift click controllers and Elite Direto XRT are connected through Bluetooth.
I think it’s the left controller. It seems to be sensitive to touch, and the blue light will turn on until it reconnects again.
I recently changed the battery, and maybe there is uneven pressure now after screwing it closed, or maybe some oil from my hands coated the battery and it’s inconsistently turning on and off.
You get a camera zooming effect with Play controllers when one of them loses connection or is switched off. Could be one of the Clicks dropping out or having battery issues. I don’t think I’ve noticed a change in resistance when that happens but could be due to draft and position.
Modern MacBooks generally have very solid Bluetooth performance. I have run the game recently on the M1 MacBook Pro, M3 MacBook Air, and M4 MacBook Pro with the Zwift Ride controls and that’s all fine, never a problem. I do not have a Direto but my suspicion is there’s an issue with the Click device so you should contact support about that, or try another battery, or make sure the battery is getting good contact with the terminals. My advice is get in touch with support ASAP in case that process ends up with them replacing it, you want that to happen sooner rather than later.
You do also have the option to upload a log file to trainerdx.com to see if you’re getting disconnections, but that analysis won’t tell you the reason - it only says whether it happened or not.
Thanks Paul, I appreciate your support. This will be the second replacement for the Zwift Click, but I know Zwift support is quick to deliver.
