Basic Definitions

I am new to Zwift and have just completed my very first ride - all very exciting!

I am looking for some basic definitions like what is a “ride on” or something to do with “pacers” in events?

I looked in FAQ’s and didn’t see anything but maybe I missed it? Can anyone help a “newbie” figure out what a ride on is and what are these pacers I am seeing referred to?

Any help would be appreciated - just point me to a resource please?
