Avatar not moving on Zwift

negative

Try to unpair everything. Start pedaling and now re pair every thing. Try another USB port.

nothing
why does the first page of the menu say paused at the top in a black ribbon?

Thereā€™s obviously a lack of communication in getting started. I was surrounded by ten riders, none moving, assuming all of us canā€™t figure out how to get this thing moving.

Iā€™m using a CooSpo Cycling Cadence Sensor Bike Speed Sensor RPM Sensor with Bluetooth 4.0 and ANT+. It doesnā€™t give me a choice to use it as a power source. Is that the problem? Iā€™ve got a ā€œdumbā€ trainer - a Cyclops Fluid 2.

BUT, my sensor can be used on the pedals or the wheel. I moved it from the pedals (it wouldnā€™t work) to the wheel and now it works.

There should be a checklist in the app before requiring a sign up for a subscription only to find out thereā€™s a possible problem.

No idea if this is an appropriate place to suggest this or not, but itā€™s tough sifting through these topics/issues.

This may help you a bit.

Feel free to look at the other videos in the Zwift group.

Hey Gerrie - that is helpful (or would have been had I known it existed).

Zwift really needs to offer instructions when you load the app - a checklist - and offer links to these videos. Itā€™s just too ambiguous when you load the app for the first time.

I had the same issue with Rouvy and itā€™s just fortunate that I figured this out on Zwift first.

Itā€™s a great app/service, but I imagine Zwift would get a larger user base if it had more clear instructions when signing up for people who have dumb trainers.

Thanks for the follow up!

Dan: just a side input. My avatar is sometimes at the side of the road for a while, not moving. There are two reasons. First is that while Iā€™m preparing for a ride ā€“ kit, shoes, water, etc. ā€“ Iā€™ll always start up Zwift and log in. I also might using the Zwift menu, selecting from the garage or from the workout menu. So during that prep time the avatar is not in motion, because Iā€™m not on the bike, pedaling. Second, I might get Zwift started just to look at or interact with something in the menu system without an intention to ride.

Hey Paul (or someone at Zwift) I have the same problemā€¦the thing is that on my last ride the Avatar was moving (tough definetely on lower speed than it should) and then suddenly hi stopped and wouldnt go anymore. Throughout the ride sometimes he would go really really slowly also. I could definetely feel that the speed on the screen wasnt matching reality.
Watts were ok!
My smart trainer is a Bkool. Should that be a problem?

Ok, what were the watts during your ride?

Just going to post this to see if it helps:

With the watts broadcast, the weight entered, height entered, in-game bike used, in-game drafting (Tri and TT bikes get no drafting boost), in-game wheel set, in-game road surface, and in-game virtual elevation changes your in-game speed is determined.

@Gerrie_Delport can post the formula that might be similar to what Zwift is using.

No the trainer should not make a difference, as long as it is paired as a power source and controllable.

If Bkool has a app to calibrate then you need to make sure it is calibrated.

Zwift calculate speed based on the power you generate. If you keep constant power on a flat road you will go at constant speed until you hit a climb then the rider will slow down if you keep the same power, so you have to increase power when going up hill.

To calculate speed from power Zwift use very complex formulas, similar to these. Bicycle Speed (Velocity) And Power Calculator

Great, thanks. Iā€™ll travel for a week today but Iā€™ll test it again when I am back and will let you know if the problem continues! Cheers

Iā€™m new to zwift and exactly this happened with me as well when I was trying to connect pc app with Bluetooth however there is no issue while connecting with ANT+ dongle. I want to connect it using Bluetooth since itā€™s more accurate. Iā€™m using Kurt Kinetic Road machine 2.0 and Windows 10 PC. No issue connecting with Bluetooth in another training apps.

Iā€™ve never heard that bluetooth is more accurate than ant+? Most people find that ant+ is far more stable than bluetooth.

In my personal experience I found BT connection better than ANT+
Compared both connections in couple of other training apps and found ANT+ showing fluctuations a lot.

Hi guys,
I have a problem, please help.
My avatar doesnā€™t want to move. :frowning:
My Elite Direto home trainer is properly connected via bluetooth.
Iā€™m using the zwift app on iPhone 11.
My zwift membership status is active.
I have paid the monthly fee during the summer, even though I havenā€™t used it.
I would like to use it now first time after summer, but my avatar doesnā€™t want to move.
I donā€™t think, that I have any problem with my membership.
I would appreciate any advice

I have the same problem

Could you elaborate a little more on your issue: https://forums.zwift.com/t/guide-to-getting-useful-support/

Hi, have the same probleem: avatar wonā€™t move today.Did worked perfectly

Running Zwift with a Tacx flux Smart2900S.
Paired trough BLE, worked fine from first moment
No other sensors connected

Yesterday no problem, today avatar doesnā€™t move

Who knows what to do

@Rick_Schuurman on your photos you posted it is saying trial expired, IIRC when your trial runs out it wonā€™t let you move. You need to wait until next month (if you donā€™t have a subscription), buy a subscription, to restore your subscription if you have an active one through iTunes.

ā€œā€IIRC when your trial runs out it wonā€™t let you move. You need to wait until next month (if you donā€™t have a subscription)ā€ā€

Thanks for reacting: i have an child account( 14 years old) and with Trial expired it did move on wednesday eveningā€¦
