AppleTV Screen Lag

This has been driving me crazy and been happening since around the beginning of the year. Randomly the screen starts to lag. Sometimes like today it’s 15 minutes in, other times it’s 30, 45. Or sometimes it just doesn’t happen. I took a video to show what it looks like. I have confirmed the Zwift APP is fully upgraded. I am using a wired connection (not wireless). Rebooted all the networking in the house. I have rebooted the AppleTV multiple times. For the life I me I can not figure out what the issue is and what’s causing it.

Which Apple TV model are you using? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) running the latest version 26.3 (23K620).

I should also note, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the APP on AppleTV as well and that did not change anything.

OK definitely not a problem with the hardware specs, and any network issues would not be likely to cause lagging frame rates. Latest tvOS for Apple TV is 26.4 but I haven’t heard about any problems with 26.3. It is recommended that you force close the Zwift app after every time you use it on Apple TV or other mobile devices (Apple TV 4K 2nd gen being more or less an iPhone Xs/Xr). Another thing you could try is a factory reset.

You could also contact support since they can view game logs from your device, but on Apple TV you have no access to game logs (unlike every other thing that can run Zwift) so you are a bit helpless to troubleshoot it without their help.

Did a wipe and made sure AppleTV updated as well. Problem surfaced at the 34 minute mark. Getting really tired of this :frowning:

Funnily enough I’ve been seeing something similar. I had assumed it was down to my heavy use of the teleport function, but perhaps there is something else going on.

Do you have video screenshots turned on? I can’t remember if the 4K 2nd gen has that available. If that is turned on, try switching it off to see if it makes a difference.

Also, I would try doing a Reset (not Restart) on the ATV to put everything back to factory defaults. You’ll have to reinstall apps, but it’s pretty quick and easy.

In case this is useful to anyone else reading in the future - turning off video screenshots made no difference to my situation (but good suggestion thank you).

After ChatGPTing the issue for my setup (only happening after going through an arch) it suggested this is a heavy graphical moment and Bluetooth instability was the likely root cause. It said to try pairing through the Companion App instead of directly (which I thought would be worse but apparently not). Tried this earlier and it worked! So I think/hope this is now resolved for me.
