App Crash After Group Rides on Makuri Island

Hello everyone,

I’m reporting a recurring and frustrating bug that has happened to me several times over the last week. It concerns a Zwift app crash immediately after crossing the finish line during specific Group Rides.

The Setup: I am using Zwift on a new laptop with Windows 11. All my devices (Smart Trainer, heart rate monitor, etc.) are connected exclusively via Bluetooth (BT).

The Issue: The crash specifically occurs during Group Rides on the world Makuri Island when the “Keep Everyone Together” (KET) feature is active for the five minutes following the finish line.

The Sequence: Shortly after crossing the finish line and while the group is still in the KET phase, the Zwift application closes instantly without any warning.

The Consequences: Since the app cannot save the ride, the last few kilometers are lost. This has happened to me three times under identical conditions in the last week. Another strange symptom is that my avatar automatically wears the Orange Zwift Jersey for the next ride after the crash.

Today, some other riders in my group also confirmed in the chat that the exact same thing happened to them in the same spot. This suggests this is a widespread, general bug.

This constant loss of the final activity data is highly frustrating and annoying.

Please share details about the laptop such as the model number that is usually found on a sticker on the bottom

Thanks for the specs suggestion! I appreciate the advice, but this is clearly a Zwift application bug, not a hardware conflict.

The crash is 100% reproducible for some riders at the exact same moment: Makuri KET ride transition after the finish line. The resulting Orange Jersey error confirms a game state saving failure.

Losing the final ride data repeatedly is highly frustrating and unacceptable. This issue needs to be prioritized and fixed immediately.

If you share the details I might have suggestions for how to work around the problem until it’s properly fixed. There are some reasons why things happen at certain points in an event or route.

To have Zwift look into it, contact support@zwift.com and ask them to review your game logs.

Do you have an emoji in your game name?

I have started crashing again after events and it was the same log file issue last time as well.

Hi Matt,

That is an excellent question regarding the emoji! Thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, I can confirm I did have an emoji in my Zwift username, and I removed it just yesterday because I had a hunch it might be related to the instability.

I did a KET group ride yesterday (after removing the emoji) and did not experience a crash.

However, it’s worth noting that yesterday’s ride was on France, not Makuri Island.

I will attempt another Makuri KET ride soon to see if the emoji was the true culprit.
