Also Problems with recent update on Mac Book Pro

Makes sense, I’m not the best with technology.

Cheers Paul

guys! Are you asking us to chance a mac that works fine on every task (photo/video editing, just saying…) just to properly play at zwift?? C’mon! The same scenario run on an iPad with less caractheristics?

It’s really unbelievable, I’ve 16GB of RAM on the MacMini, it’s fully supported by Apple for all the system upgrades and not by you for running a cycle simulator?

You’ve got just 15days to fix the issue, than I’ll go out for freezing ride insted to watch a freezing monitor, for sure it will be better

Same here MacBoo Pro 2011 13" with Intel HD 3000.

16 GB Ram, SSD Disk - everything worked fine before the update.
Now everything (HD Video cuting!) works fine - except of Zwift

please fix it - I want to spend the money on the bike - new macboo pro is too expensive…

I’m in the same situation: after the update Zwift does not go on my MBP 13 "2011 (late) Intel HD3000
I made the situation worse by installing High Sierra …
We hope for the future update

I have the same issue with 2 mac computer.

Both mac mini and macbook air arent able to run zwift at all now

I get lower than 1 FPS and the draw calls dont get completed, I mean I see my hair, my bike but not my body.

on the other hand… my very old surface pro still runs it flawlessly even if it only has 2gn of ram and the intel HD3000.

Something is wrong for the code with OSX.

I got an answer to my support ticket saying the “workaround” is to get new hardware. If my current Macbook (early 2011) suddenly works, it’s purely luck. Well since it doesn’t work I just cancelled my subscription.

I am most frustrated by the fact that this wasn’t announced in a way that I could prepare or even cancel my subscription in time.

Anyway, had lot’s of fun, perhaps see you in a near future.

It’s sad cause my macbook air is 2014… and still does not work…

Seems like a lot of people are experiencing this issue.  This update seemingly did almost nothing for user experience, yet you’ve made zwift inaccessible to a chunk of your subscribers.

You mentioned that people having an older non gaming laptop would experience issues- I think you need to get the fact that people would need a gaming laptop with a decent graphics card out of your heads straight away- this is surely not your target market?

I’ll hold out for another month, if you don’t issue an update to make this accessible to me, my subscription is cancelled

Hey guys !

I tried a manual fix and it seems to have worked for me

I suggest to try it !

With Zwift not running, open the prefs.xml in a text editor like Notepad. The beginning of the file will look something like this:

<?xml version="1.0"?><ZWIFT> <SPORT>CYCLING</SPORT> <CONFIG> <ANNOUNCER_VOL>1</ANNOUNCER_VOL> <MINIMAPZOOMPREF>2</MINIMAPZOOMPREF> ...

Simply add the line in bold below and save your changes. Start up Zwift, and auto-brightness will no longer be enabled.

<?xml version="1.0"?><ZWIFT> <SPORT>CYCLING</SPORT> <CONFIG> <PERF>67108864</PERF> <ANNOUNCER_VOL>1</ANNOUNCER_VOL> <MINIMAPZOOMPREF>2</MINIMAPZOOMPREF>

I have the same issue. Worked fine, updated and then a missing body, regular crashes and other people’s bikes emerging from the tarmac. Using a late 2011 MBP.

Opened a ticket with Zwift and they said:
“Ahh yes, that card has been causing issues on Mac computers since the latest update
(09:12:41 PM) Jamie: ok, thanks, Is there a solution?
(09:14:25 PM) Abigail O.: Unfortunately, since the card is under spec we don’t have an official solution. I would recommend making sure your OS is up to date, since the graphic drivers updates are typically packaged in those updates with Mac computers”

It is up to date, plugged in and lots of RAM. As an aside, I have a free trial of the BKOOL software. Works seamlessly, loads of routes to pick and only £7.99 a month. Won’t be long until people go to other providers if all these Mac users can’t get on Zwift.

Rouvy is another platform, similiar to Bkool, works great!

Thanks for the new update guys, it seems to work ! We for sure appreciate your effort to listen to your old macbook users. Its always a better idea to never ignore old macbook users, ahah !

Is there an update then? All working now? Hope to give it a try tonight.

With the latest update and the modification to the prefs.xml as above the ride on my MacBook this morning was glitch free.

Following the Feb 28 update, Zwift is now problem-free on my 2011 MacBook Pro. It runs High Sierra 10.13.3  with Intel HD Graphics 3000  and 8GB of memory. I did not do the prefs.xml modification described above.

Thanks for fixing this issue Zwift!
