Allow simulation mode during structured workouts

It seems like it should be a simple coding add for Zwift to give users the option of riding in Sim mode while doing a structured workout. In effect, make it the same as doing a structured workout outdoors. This is something Velocity offers and I think Zwift is missing out on a simple add.

Sure, I could just follow a structured workout on my bike computer and do a free ride. But, then you don’t get the arches between intervals or the target power and cadence on screen. Being able to follow varying terrain while maintaining power and cadence is a crucial skill for endurance racing that this request would help support.

Just turn erg mode off.

Then you get incline mode, which is just constant resistance and doesn’t follow the terrain.

The thing about doing this might be that you’d need a really big range of gears, in case you end up with a high-power interval on a descent, or a low-power interval on a steep climb.

True, but that’s just like being outside. You can be selective in the route you pick, or just accept there will be some portions where you have to be outside your interval target(s) for a bit. Or, worst case, toggle erg or incline back on if you’re stuck on a long climb or descent and want to get back on track.

To me, the whole goal in this is to add interest to the workout and improve your pacing capability.
