Alerting rider feature suggestions

As a newcomer to Zwift, I’m still getting the hang of things, but I’ve run into a few frustrations with the audio alerts system. Currently, the only options I can find are the two general volume sliders (for game sounds and world background noise), which don’t allow for granular control. This makes it hard to tailor the experience without muting everything. I’d love to see more refined alert management—both toggles for existing notifications and new ones to better support riders. Here are a few specific ideas based on my rides so far:

  1. Selective Muting of Specific Alerts: Allow users to enable/disable individual alert types, like the “Ride On” notifications. These can get overwhelming in busy group rides or with robo-pacers, turning into a constant barrage of pings that drown out ambient sounds (e.g., birds, road noise). A simple toggle would let me keep the fun environmental audio while silencing the spam.

  2. Power Zone Deviation Warnings: During structured workouts, add an audible tone or chime that alerts you when you’re drifting out of your target power zone for a set duration (e.g., 30 seconds). Right now, it’s just a visual indicator on-screen, which I might miss if I’m focused on pedaling or the road ahead. This would help maintain training consistency without constant glancing at the HUD.

  3. Idle Timeout Prevention for Breaks: For quick pauses like grabbing a coffee, implement an escalating audible warning (starting subtle, then getting more insistent) if your avatar risks going idle and losing momentum or multipliers—especially in robo-pacer rides where getting dropped means rejoining from behind. The current coffee break feature is handy, but it doesn’t always prevent idle states reliably, and a proactive sound cue could save sessions from derailing.

Overall, more customizable and user-helpful alerts would make Zwift even more immersive and forgiving for beginners like me. Granular controls could be added via the in-game settings menu or Zwift Companion app. Thanks for considering—keep up the great work! #RideOn
