Accessing the menu from the home screen without starting a ride

How about making the in-game menu, the one with drop shop, settings, challenges, workouts, etc. accessible from the main menu without having to start a ride? I often find myself wanting to look through the drop shop or the workout menu at some random time during the day, but in order to do so I have to start a ride which, besides for being annoying, also uses up a lot of my limited data.

A better suggestion would be to access ALL that and more through my.zwift.com and/or the Zwift Companion App.

With all the additions to things like badges & achievements, drop shop and other sub-menu options it’s getting really a pain to have to go through the whole process of the pairing and route selection screen before we can get to the menu.

For example if I want to check on what routes achievement badges I already have so I can select an undone one for a new ride I have to login, pass the pair screen, select a ride, go to the menu, check on achievements, backout and discard the ride, re-log in, pair, select the right route. What an utter pain in the â– â– â– â– .

A new menu option in the pairing screen would be good.

I know a new UI is being worked on, but I really hope you consider process flow as well.

Thanks

Wuuut?
How do you know that?

Look at zwiftinsider for the route badges.

One of the recent Zwiftcast episodes, Simon mentioned it. Supposedly winter 19/20.

I know I can check on zwiftinsider for the list of badges, but I have to go through the whole ride selection process to check on which I’ve done, which was my point. It’s not intuitive from a process flow standpoint.

Hi Stephen,
I agree with you. I also asked support if this is possible, but as of today it is not yet.
I hope it is a common problem for many, because it would be really convenient to be able to access the menu without necessarily starting a ride.

Totally agree with this - why do I have to pair sensors and start a ride to get into the garage, adjust my heart rate and FTP, and so on? When I’m riding I want to ride, not play with my profile. Moving all that into the Zwift companion would also be good.

You don’t have to pair anything. Still daft that you have to start a ride though.

Thanks, good to know. But yes, strange to have to start and abandon a ride to get things like that done.

The data available from the Web interface needs improving, why do I have to use a third part site like ZwiftHub to check on badges/achievements, this should all be available without having to launch the game client.

Bump for this function as well. To be honest the AI is terrible. The idea that you have to get into a ride to access any pertinent information is ridiculous. If Zwift is going for ease of use they are failing misserably. There are competitors to the market that have a much better interface, just missing some functionality that Zwift current has, AppleTV and Workouts and workout programs. But those are easy fixes, all while Zwift does nothing to make it easy to use. Just navigating the screen without a mouse is next to impossible.

Zwift UX is TERRIBLE. Can’t believe that can have such a twisted mind.

Yes, it would be super helpful to access the menu and settings without going into a ride, clicking “back to me” and then clicking “menu”. I tend to check out rides, training and do my dealings on the drop shop ahead of getting on the bike - sometimes days before doing the ride I’m researching. It’s very clunky at the moment and it also uses a lot of processing power of my laptop unnecessarily.

I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say it’s a terrible platform though, and though there are alternatives in the marketplace, the ones I’ve tried are lacking in content. I so LOVE the real roads of Rouvy, but as a long term solution, I wanted more ride options than Rouvy could offer. I’m sure that will change in the future too.

This is a feature I really miss. It would be best if the Zwift Menu or the “Garage” were integrated into the Companion App.

This. The menu should be accessible from everywhere and be easily navigated front and backwards.

Can’t believe this is still a thing. Why the heck you can’t access menus without starting a ride is beyond me. The amount of times I want to change a setting… so have to start a ride… I receive ride ons, “thanks for the ride on, but I’m just checking my max heart rate. I’m not actually riding”
Just bizarre. Please sort!
